As part of celebrating our 70th anniversary, we want to recognize the employees who make it possible for KeHE to provide high-quality service to our customers. Over our seven decades, KeHE employees have cultivated tight-knit communities that make working at KeHE both personally and professionally rewarding. Roselle Lewis is a long-time employee who has worked at KeHE for 49 years, which is no small feat. Dedicated employees such as Roselle are a testament to the culture that KeHE has worked hard to cultivate.

We are proud to celebrate Roselle’s time at KeHE by sitting down to discuss his experiences over the years.

Q: What brought you to KeHE and what is your role now?

A: I was hired by Art Kehe to pack boxes. Upon being hired, I was told to pack all boxes as if I was sending them to somebody I loved. I’ve followed that advice for all 49 of my years at KeHE and was promoted to Utility Associate on the Production Floor this past year.

Q: Tell us a little bit about your role at KeHE and how it has changed over the years.

A: I have worked as a forklift operator at KeHE for most of my time here. At KeHE, I have great benefits and a community that motivates and inspires me to work hard.

Q: What are some of the biggest changes you’ve seen during your tenure with KeHE?

I’ve watched as the management at KeHE has become more specialized and streamlined during my time here. Emory Burton used to take on a lot by himself, but as other leaders have been hired, more experience has been brought to the table. This has made KeHE more efficient. Also, processes such as our conveyor system have been improved, which has made packing orders more productive and accurate.

Q: What has been your favorite memory during your time at KeHE?

My time at KeHE has been memorable both personally and professionally. When I got married, everybody from KeHE came and celebrated with us. My wedding was 38 years ago, and we are still close friends with the people from KeHE that attended our wedding. On a professional level, it’s been so rewarding to watch KeHE grow and know that I have played a role in that growth.

Q: What legacy do you hope to leave behind with KeHE?

I want to watch as KeHE and my coworkers continue to grow. I hope to be remembered as somebody who works hard and makes a difference in the workplace.

We’re grateful to have employees who make our workplace feel like a community full of deep, caring relationships. Long-time employees such as Roselle are a reminder of the genuine relationships that come from collaborating with others to reach shared goals. Celebrating our 70th anniversary is an opportunity to reflect on everything we’ve achieved, made possible by the people who work hard to ensure we meet our customers where they are at. KeHE is more than a distributor, we are a family of hardworking and passionate individuals.
